TypeFlow Privacy Policy

TypeFlow is a Chrome extension that corrects and improves text in any field on any website. This policy explains what data TypeFlow handles and where it goes.

1. What TypeFlow Does

TypeFlow does not collect, store, or transmit your data to us. We do not run any servers for TypeFlow.

2. Text You Ask TypeFlow to Correct

When you ask TypeFlow to correct text, that text goes directly from your browser to the AI provider you configured: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or a local Ollama instance. That is the only place it goes, and it is subject to that provider's own privacy policy. TypeFlow never reads password fields.

3. Page Context

The "Page Context" setting (on by default, can be turned off in the extension's settings) includes up to 800 characters of visible text near the field you are editing with each correction request, so the AI understands what your text responds to. That context goes only to your chosen AI provider, same as the text itself.

4. Optional Privacy Shield

The optional "Privacy Shield" setting (off by default) masks email addresses, phone numbers, and card-like numbers with placeholders before your text is sent to the AI provider, and restores the real values in the result on your device. When it is on, the provider never sees those values.

5. Correction History

TypeFlow keeps a history of your last 50 applied corrections so you can find a correction again later. It is stored only on the device where it happened, using Chrome's local extension storage; never synced and never sent anywhere. You can turn history off or clear it at any time in the extension's settings.

6. API Keys and Settings

Your API key is stored only on the device where you entered it, using Chrome's local extension storage; it is not synced anywhere. Other settings (chosen provider, model, writing styles, site lists, theme) use Chrome's built-in sync storage, which stays within your own Google account, syncing across your signed-in Chrome browsers. None of it is ever sent to us. It is only ever used to talk to your chosen provider.

7. Analytics and Tracking

TypeFlow has no analytics, no tracking, and no ads.
